Embroidered Fall Pillows

embroidered pillow thumbnail

Happy first day of October!  I have a pretty neutral living room and have had just plain pillows on the couch.  I decided I wanted to decorate the plain pillows for the seasons.  The pillows are actually cases over pink pillows that I had previously, definitely do not match the current living room.  I purchased the covers at Hobby Lobby for $2.50.  They are originally $5.00 and sometimes have them on sale for 1/2.  I could barely purchase the zipper for that price.

I didn’t have a template for the writing but just wrote freehand with a pencil on the pillow and embroidered the “in all things give thanks.”  I cut the leaves out of different fabric that I had after I printed some leaves templates.  I drew the pumpkin freehand and then embroidered around the pumpkin.

I really like how they came out and cannot wait to do them for Christmas!

Favorite Fall Wreath

wreath square

Last week I went to Hobby Lobby.  I really had no intention of purchasing supplies to make a wreath and was making my way around the store (I apologize for this long drawn out pointless story but anyway…), when Josiah came in to find me.  He ended up doing this:

wreath in store

I had to take a photo of it in the store so we could recreate it after we paid for everything.  He ended up doing a really good job and even though it was all 40% off, this would have been much cheaper purchasing everything at the end of this season for next year!  Either way, I really love how the wreath turned out.  I was going to make another burlap wreath (I still plan on doing that but using it somewhere else :) but I love how this one looks. Even though it is South Texas, I am ready for some fall!

I love how it looks! And all it consisted of was purchasing the supplies and organizing them in the way that looks the best :)  Now if only I can add some more fall decor I will be good to go!  Stay tuned!

Patriotic Table Runner

Patriotic Table Runner

I love having a table runner on my table and I love changing it out depending upon the season.  I have been behind for on finishing this (I missed Memorial Day, oops!) but I was able to put it together this week and I really like how it turned out!  I added the white ruffle not only to give it a little bit extra, but because it would have been way to short without it! I used left over red fabric I had and didn’t want to go buy anymore :)  I added the blue (can’t really tell that in the picture) stars stamped on with paint to give it some blue and more of a Patriotic feel.

Best way to make easy stamps?  Potatoes of course! Thankfully I didn’t have to just guess and cut out a star but had a cookie cutter in the perfect star shape that cut through the potato easily.

At first I was just going to stamp them and let them be how they were, but for OCD me that was a little too rough.  So once I had the stars down I took my paint brush and individually painted them in.  I think they look much better that way!

Much better!  I love how the table cloth turned out.  I was thinking of writing across the whole thing (long ways), Land of the Free or something similar but I just can’t decide.  What do y’all think?

Ruffle Table Runner

Ruffle Table Runner

I have had this fabric on my table for about a month (no joke!).  It has not been sewn, I seriously just had fabric folded over as a runner.  I really like having a runner on the table but I hadn’t gotten around to sewing it up.  Finally I did, added some adorable ruffles and it feels so much more complete!
