{Mostly} Handmade Valentine’s Gift Ideas

I love Valentine’s Day but I don’t think you need to spend a fortune to make it special.  There are lots of great ideas around the internet for things that you can make or you can make and then purchase.  Here are some of the ones I have thought about.

Christmas-Gift-Idea-Date-Nights1

12 Months of Dates.  I am sure you have seen this on multiple blogs but Clean & Scentsible has free printables for it as well.  You can prepay for the dates or just have ideas for the following 12 months.  What an adorable (and thoughtful!) idea.

Shutterfly Photo Books.  I am a huge fan of these books.  I make them all the time.  Watch for their sales because you can normally get free shipping and then some amount off.

If you don’t have as much time to make a Shutterfly book or want something a little smaller, have you heard of chatbooks?  They are smaller and you can make your own with one picture and captions on each page.  I made Josiah one for Christmas and he keeps it on his desk at work.  Use this code to receive your first one for free: 9PETNKKA.  Just download the app.

How about some food?  You can never go wrong with some homemade cookies or bread.  You put time into it and it tastes absolutely delicious!

Another cute idea is the Alphabet of Our Love.  I have seen a few versions of this but here is one from The Twinery Blog that came out really cute.

Ring Bowl- Easy Mother’s Day

Ring Bowl Finished

So I saw an article in Better Homes & Garden about making ring bowls using Sculpey Clay and wanted to try it.  It is the perfect gift to have a child make for mother’s day.  Now, my mom will be getting one because I made it for her (hopefully she will find it sweet!), but if you are looking for something simple for your mom or grandmother, this is easy!

Supplies Needed:

Polymer Clay (I used Sculpey but you can use Fimo as well)

Stamps

I doubt this even needs lots of introduction but I did use almost an entire square of the clay.  I rolled it into a ball and then flattened it.  I then stamped ‘i love you mom’ on it just using regular ink stamps.  I then used a decorative stamp for the surrounding area.  The place it in the over for 30 minutes @ 265 degrees.  A great craft to have the kids do for Mom!

Handstamped Guitar Picks Keychain

Guitar Picks Handstamped

So I had Handstamped these guitar picks as a Christmas present.  Now, you can’t actually use them as they are too thick and the silver would hit the strings and create sounds you don’t want, but I thought they were a unique gift.  I finally was able to make them into a keychain, which is a unique gift for any guitar player.

Dog Silhouette

Doing a dog silhouette has been on my list of things to do for a long time.  I haven’t done one for Pancake but I did one the other day for my best friend Brianne.  She has an adorable white Coton de Tulear named Kirby.  I grabbed a picture off her instagram (it would have to do as Kirby lives in Arizona with Brianne and that is a little too far to go take a picture!) and traced, cut and glued.  Just a little random happy.  I think next time I would probably make the dog silhouette in a solid color and the background in the busy color.
