Weekend Recap [New Hampshire]

Last weekend Josiah & I flew to New Hampshire to visit some of my family.  It was a short trip (Friday-Sunday) and I had some worries about weather delays but we made it and had a great time!  I only wish it had been longer!  It was much colder than it is here in Texas and so I don’t know if we were prepared for that!

Lunch

On Saturday we had lunch at Portsmouth Gas Light.  It was absolutely delicious!  I had chicken pot pie.  This started my weekend of lots of eating!  Wait, I lied.  I had Dunkin Donuts for breakfast!  And I may have also drank plenty of Moxie while I was there.  It has always been a drink my grandfather has drank and I just couldn’t help myself!

portsmouth

We then walked around downtown Portsmouth.  It is so crazy to think how old some of these buildings are when in Tennessee and Texas they are a lot newer!  Some of these ones go back to the 1600s!

We drove along the coast and even though it was absolutely freezing it was so incredibly beautiful.  And I love  the smell of the seacoast!

mimi and papa

I was so happy that we were able to spend time with family.  My grandparents are absolutely wonderful and I pray they can make it to the wedding!

cousins

I also got to spend time with my cousins and I cannot wait to see them in a few months!  For dinner we had chicken tenders which are famous from The Backroom.  They were delicious.  I may of had another can of Moxie and we had homemade angel cake for dessert.

crepes

On Sunday morning we had more eating at Chez Vachon.  Oh my goodness was that apple crepe absolutely amazing!  Apparently this restaurant is a big stop on presidential tours before elections and I see why!  You have to go at a certain time and we got there right in time as just a little bit after us there was a line out the door.  And with the cold, that must not have been fun!

baltimore

Then we had a four hour layover in Baltimore, MD and we did something I have never done.  We left the airport and went to the Pier!  We took a taxi from the airport and on the way back we took an Uber.  Really because we have never taken an Uber and thought it would be fun.  We still made it back to the airport in plenty of time to get through security and then for our four hour flight!  ugh!

We made it back to Texas after a whirlwind weekend to 75 degrees and sunshine.  :)  Now I feel like I need to eat really well this week to make up for this weekend!

It is almost wordless Wednesdays because we are having a blast in Breckinridge.  I need to do a recap about everything we have done since last Friday (it is a LOT!) but we made our final destination of Breckinridge and have gone out on the slopes.  We will be going out again today and I can’t wait :)

Tennessee Trip [Post 1]

Mom and me

Mom’s birthday was on Sunday and I surprised her at dinner that Saturday night.  She had no idea I was coming and was shocked.  I was so excited to be able to surprise her like that.

fall colors

Fall weather is out and about in Tennessee.  It hasn’t reached Texas yet but I got to enjoy some fall while I was in Tennessee.

franklin theatre

PumpkinFest was Saturday in Franklin and I was so excited to get to go.  Mom and I went and walked around.  I was able to get some kettle corn (I love kettle corn!) and an amazing crepe from a food truck.  You have to get to PumpkinFest really early because it gets c.r.a.z.y crowded.

Pumpkin fest

Everyone gets their picture taken in front of this pumpkin statue thing.  Or at least it seems like it :)

kendra run

After PumpkinFest I headed to Nashville to see my sister finish her last leg of the Ragnar.  It is a multi-person relay that starts in Chattanooga and finishes in Nashville.  You have teams of 12 (or Ultra teams of 6) and each person runs 3 legs (or 6 if an ultra).  They start Friday morning and finish Saturday evening and Kendra ran 21.5 miles total.  One of her legs was at some crazy hour of 3 or 4 in the morning!

We took finishing photos with her.  You can’t see from the photo but I am making sure my arm is not touching her in the back, haha.  It was unseasonable warm!

Mom came too and we got a group photo.  I am pretty proud of her!

Go & Make Disciples [Mission Trip]

Make Disciples

As this is posted I am currently on my way to go to my first mission trip in Honduras.  Jesus left us with the above command to “go and make disciples of all nations” and that is what I am finally getting to do.  We are heading to  Honduras for a week to encourage a church that our church as adopted and partnered with.  We won’t be building anything  but will instead be doing a VBS and music ministry with the kids and people in the community.  I am praying this is a way to connect with the local community.  Then another group will head down in October to do a medical mission trip.s.

Since I have never been on a mission trip, I am not fully sure of what to expect but I am praying that we are prepared for whatever will come our way!  I also pray for our safety and the safety of those who live there.  I pray we are able to do more for them than we think we can and that we will leave them better than they were when we arrived.  I pray we all keep in mind the mission we have been given and act accordingly.  Most of all I pray for His will to be done.
