Happy New Year

The New Year always brings such excitement and fanfare and promises of a new year. It is a time when you can have a new start. The Bible has some wonderful verses to meditate on as we begin the New Year.

Ecclesiastes 3:1- “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens”

Romans 8:18- “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”

Jeremiah 29:11- “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Micah 7:7- “But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.”

Proverbs 16:9- “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.”

Proverbs 23:18- “There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.”

2 Corinthians 5:17- “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Isaiah 40:31- “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Lamentations 3: 22-24- “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”

Do you have any New Year Traditions that your family and friends participate in? I really don’t. I normally keep it very simple and watch the ball drop on television. I am wanting to do the idea that I have seen on Pinterest and I am not sure who the original poster was.

New Years Jar

What you do is starting on January 1st, everytime something good happens, or a memory you want to remember you write it down and place it in the jar.  Then the following New Years Eve you read all of the good memories you had.  I think it is an excellent way to end the year by reading all of the fun good memories from the previous year.

Happy 4th of July

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

I hope you and all your family and friends have a fabulous 4th of July.  Be safe, eat some good food and take time to remember that 237 years ago men wrote the Declaration of Independence to give us freedom from England.

John Adams said that, “It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parades from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore.”

Let us continue on with what they wished for our country!

4th of July Outfit- jean cutoffs and star tank

So in addition to painting my nails I wanted to have a cute 4th of July outfit that was comfortable enough to be in all day.  I love what I ended up making.  It was very cheap and looks adorable.  The shorts are made from a pair of jeans I got at Goodwill for $3.50, the tank top was $3.97 at Walmart and then the fabric was .97 cents as I used a fat quarter for it.  I apologize for the horrible pictures, I was trying to take them myself and you can only get so good of picture in the mirror.

Here is the front of my outfit.  I distressed the shorts in the front and cuffed them up.  For the tank I cut some rough stars out that I sewed on in a random pattern using a zig zag stitch.

I covered the pockets with the fabric as well.  Biggest pain to get the rivet out so that I could cover the pockets but worth it :)

and the stars.  As you can see I was rough with my stars and rough with the stitching, I didn’t want it to look like perfect little stars.

I loved how this outfit turned out and am so excited to wear it tomorrow!

4th Of July Recipes

So with each holiday comes some absolutely amazing ideas that are posted on blogs for decorating, recipes, clothing and more.  I wanted to share some things I had found that look absolutely amazing.

My Juice Cup has these amazing looking 4th of July cake pops.  I have never tried to make cake pops, but there is a tutorial and it may be worth giving it a try!

Fourth of July Firecracker Cookies, yes please!  You use poprocks to decorate the cookies, cake, whatever you are baking.  This is a fabulous idea!

Red Velvet Ice Cream Sandwiches look wonderful!  They have cheesecake ice cream!
