Mad Men “Betty Draper” Dress

I know I have told you how super excited I am about the two hour Mad Men Premier tonight. I wish I lived in the 60′s, it just looks like so much fun! And they have the best clothes! So I decided I needed to make a “Betty Draper” dress. Butterick has Retro ’60s patterns that you can buy at your craft store and I found this one. It was sold out the first time I went to buy it but I went back and was able to get it in my size.

Something similar to this, but with a lower/rounder neckline. I could not find the exact picture I was looking for. I made the dress and then added a headband in the dress fabric :) I am sorry some of the pictures are a little washed out- it was very sunny outside and I applied an antiqued filter… I had to make them look vintage too!

And it is great for spinning!

(Check out the link parties to see where I may link up. I am linking up now though…April 21st….because life has been crazy!)

Running Headbands

HANDMAE TUESDAYS IS BELOW. I SCHEDULED THE WRONG DAY :)

When I run I like to have the ribbon headbands with velvet underneath. You can buy them at a lot of the races but they are not cheap and something I can most definitely make myself in less than 10 minutes. I bought this glitter ribbon at Hobby Lobby when their ribbon was 1/2 off (because everything goes on sale eventually at Hobby Lobby) and then bought some elastic as well. Easy project that has been on my to do list for way too long!

New Bag

So I decided that I needed a personalized bag for Creative Estates this weekend. I think this is going to be my new “everything” bag, I love it that much!!  I was going to make an entire new bag but then found the canvas bag for $2.50 and it is the perfect size!!  So I added Ladybug Blessings (thank you silhouette) on one side with a cute little flower and fabric strip….

and then I covered the pockets (there are two HUGE pockets behind this fabric) with fabric and covered the handles with pink.

This bag is the perfect size!  I also added a small pocket (although you cannot see it) on the inside that closes with velcro.  Yup, my bag & I are ready for Creative Estates!!

My Personal Commandments

I apologize the picture isn’t the best. I could not get a good picture of it because of the glass

———–

So I am reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin and in it she mentions writing Personal Commandments, almost like the rules for life. (I highly recommend the book if you are looking for something to read:)

Well I had this awesome white, shabby chic frame I had purchased @ Goodwill for $5 and had been wanting to spray paint robin’s egg blue (love this color!). So I decided to write all of my personal commandments and hang it up in my room to remind me. Especially since life is kind of tough right now. I’m just trucking through relying on God for His plan and knowing that He is in control.

So I came up with these ones (in no particular order. They just fit better this way):

  • Be Happy
  • Laugh Daily
  • This too Shall Pass (you can’t read this one but it is in green next to laugh daily)
  • Play often
  • Trust God
  • Wait
  • Create
  • Spread Joy
  • Love Much
  • Let it Go
  • Be Thankful

Just in case you were wondering…. I also have “Be jealous of no one,” “Remember the small things,” “To worry is to not trust God,” “Take time to pray,” “Do what I enjoy & enjoy what I do,” and “Overthinking is not useful thinking. I just ran out of space to put them on my board. :)

I made the board using lots of paper and my Silhouette. We are always on a love/hate relationship but this week we are friends.
