[Redeemed]

If you have not heard of Inspired Deals, I urge you to go check it out.  It is part of the (in)courage blog which is such an inspiration with inspiring posts, backgrounds and more.   I signed up and received some items from Dayspring’s Redeemed Christmas line.  The Redeemed collection is inspired from Christ’s love for us and what He is doing in is on a daily basis.  I am not perfect, quite the opposite if I am honest.  I am broken, I am bruised, and I am hurting but none of that matters to God, He doesn’t think less of me or think that I am just a lost cause.  He sent Jesus to redeem us, all of us.  Not just the “perfect” (in quotes, because we know no one is perfect) person but everyone.

Redeemed means to buy or pay off; clear off by payment.

The only way we can (and are!) redeemed is through Jesus Christ.  Jesus came to earth to redeem us of our sins.  He paid the price for us by dying on the cross, once and for all.  We were completely paid off, we don’t owe any payment.  Imagine, what if someone just came and paid off your mortgage?  Or your credit card?  How awesome would that be?  Now, multiply that times infinity and it still wouldn’t be as amazing as how Jesus redeemed us.  Christmas is the time we celebrate that Jesus came to pay our way.  It isn’t about the gifts, or the trees, or the lights, no matter how pretty those are, but is about how we have been REDEEMED through our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Dayspring is helping us to remember that Christmas is really about the baby in the manger.  It has nothing to do with the commercial side, that is all fluff.  The mug sits under the coffee maker to be used throughout this season, maybe on top of one of the coasters.  I have the advent calendar sitting on my desk to remind me daily of who Jesus is and to spark my thinking about Jesus.  And the cards are being used to do random acts of kindness that I am giving to people.  I really am redeemed, and there is no other way except through Jesus.

Christmas Decorating

Last weekend we pulled out all of the Christmas decorations.  I have a small obsession with taking photos and so I took some along the way.  I was exhausted when the weekend was over but I absolutely love having the house decorated for Christmas- so it was definitely worth it :)

Why do cats love boxes so much?  We had a new tree this year and as I was pulling it out of the box he could not wait to get in it.

I pulled all the ornaments out of the boxes and then put them on the tree.  I felt like I was never going to get through the pile!

His favorite spot is underneath the trees

Looking towards the front door.  I love how the tree looks.  Normally we put it in the family room but we tried something different this year.  The white one always goes at the top of the stairs.

The white tree with my Christmas scenes in the background.

The puppies got into decorating at Kendra’s house.  They were pretty tired after it was all done though :)

Merry, Merry Christmas

Over 2,000 years ago something happened that forever changed how we live and how God connects with us. Let us never forget that the true meaning of Christmas is not how many gifts are under the tree, what we are eating or even the family and friends we get to see. It all has to do with a little baby that was born in a stable.

——–”Everything Changed” by Eddie Kirkland
On a night like this, on a broken road, she is far from sleep, she is far from home. For a baby’s cries tear the still of night and she wonders why…

The future was bright and clear, she planned for her wedding day, her daddy would hold back tears giving her hand away but now all her hope and fear in a cradle lay, ’cause a baby came and everything changed.//

On a night like this, many years ago, as she held him close she had come to know, that a mother’s heart could not let him go, and she now knows why….

The future was bright and clear, with hope and a promise made. The light of the world was near, choirs of angels sang, Heaven’s exaulted king, in a manger lay, ’cause a baby came and everything changed.//

When our dreams grow dim and our hearts grow cold, He is never far from our broken souls.//

Gloria, our God is with us, Gloria, He has come to save, Mercy and Love now for every generation, for the Savior came and everything changed.

Gloria, our God is with us, Gloria, He has come to save, Mercy and Love now for every generation, for the Savior came and everything changed.

Silhouette Ornaments

So every year for the past 9 years (at least) I have made ornaments for the kids I babysit for (and now that they are older, it isn’t really babysitting but they really are my kids :) and this year was no different.  Of course, after making ornaments for 9 years it is hard to come up with new things to make them.  I make them pretty simple, not too complicated and I don’t want to make them breakable because we have had issues with those in the past :)

So I decided this year to use plastic balls, my silhouette and some glitter. Simple, but lovely!
