Halloween Costume Ideas…

So what are you (or your children) being for Halloween? I always tend to 1. wait until the last minute and 2. Make it myself. Not only do I enjoy making them but with good costumes going from $50 and up? Most definitely not in my budget, actually no where close to my budget. So, I make them. Last year I was very lazy and threw together a last minute costume with a tutu and other stuff, but the year before that I made an adorable Rainbow Bright costume and then there was the poodle girl and then the M & Ms. This year?

When I was little I absolutely loved Minnie Mouse. For years I had a framed picture of Minnie & me at Disney World in my room. I was actually Minnie Mouse for Halloween when I was little and had a Minnie birthday party. So yesterday I decided that I would be Minnie for Halloween this year.

I decided I am going to take my own little “spin” on her though and to do her pink dress instead of the red, and instead of making it an actual dress I am going to make the skirt into a tutu and the whole color scheme will be lots of pink & black.

I do think this costume is cute:

But at $55 for what is probably a lot of polyester and nothing, I figured I’d pass.

I saw a tutu Snow White Costume (link no longer works) that got me thinking and then looked at Minnie ones. Here is a cute child outfit I saw:

So who knows what it will end up looking like but I have some ideas and I’ll let you know how it turns out!

Handmade Features

I knew I’d finally get it up :) Since it is the 4th of July I decided to focus on some Patriotic things that were shared!

Love these rocket favors from homework. I wish I would have had time to make some to give to people :)

How adorable is this top by Peanut to Princess? I mean, could I get away with that? :)

And this totally reminds me of the thing we had when I was little and we could make art work like this… but this is done with a salad spinner and works just as well! From Mom’s Crafty Place.

And please feel free to head to my button page and grab a button.

So Very Thankful!

It is no secret that tomorrow is Thanksgiving here in the US and I have many things to be thankful for. I have been so incredibly blessed. I have my family, my friends, my pets, a roof over my head and food to eat. I have a car to drive and the freedom afforded to me by living in the United States.

I am so blessed it is really important to remember to be thankful throughout the year and not just at Thanksgiving & Christmas time.

The Blessing Tree & Box

So I really wanted to make a Thanksgiving advent calendar as I have seen so many in the craft link-ups and thought it was a wonderful idea!  I started out with a cookie sheet and cut lots of circles and then I totally switched gears and decided a “Blessing Tree” would look perfect hanging on the pantry door! I made one of the people I babysit for and then I decided my parents had to have one. I really like how it turned out. The back is a great place to store extra magnets, leaves, and past years leaves.

I thought it would be a good idea to keep the leaves each year and just date the back. Then you can look back over them. I think making a fabric pocket or something bigger would be better though, so we shall see!

I then decided to make a Thanksgiving Blessing Box. I thought it could be another way to display what you are thankful for, or what blessings you have received.. I just feel like Thanksgiving always gets overlooked but recognizing blessings and being thankful is very important.
