My New Favorite Scarf

So I normally don’t wear scarfs as I always thought I looked stupid in them.  I made an infinity jersey scarf and I absolutely love it.  I actually think I need to go get some more jersey material to make some more.  Also, it was super easy and took just a few minutes!

Paired with one of my favorite black dresses.

And paired with more layers and colors and my Origami Owl necklace.

iPhone Wallet

So I have been looking for an iPhone wallet that I can put my phone and maybe a few credit cards in. I have not found anything that I have really liked so I just decided that I should make one.  I apologize for not showing you what it looks like with my phone IN the wallet but since I had to take the pictures with the phone….  Sometimes you don’t want to grab your entire purse but you still need 1. your phone & 2. some cards.  iPhone cases can be expensive, especially clutch ones (i.e. this Kate Spade one I am loving!).  Now, mine doesn’t look anything like that one but I still love it!

Here is the outside.  I used a canvas grey chevron fabric and a skinny black elastic to secure it.

The inside has plenty of pockets for my cards.  The yellow pocket can store my receipts, the pocket below it is where my phone goes and then on the other side I have two card pockets for my license and a few cards.  It is the perfect size and fits in a coat pocket or even in my back pocket.

Budget Envelope System

So back when I made an envelope system for myself  my sister really wanted me to make her one.  Well it took me a little while but I finally made her one.  I made hers a little different than mine and made it as a big envelope with smaller envelopes in it.  I actually think this will work better.  She picked all the fabric out at JoAnns and then I just played with it all to make 5 envelopes for the inside, the large one and then some card pockets on the inside.

All 5 envelopes inside the large one.  The fabrics are completely mismatched but they work well together.

Here is the inside.  That pocket is two pockets that can hold cards so you don’t need to bring another wallet.

Handmade Coasters

So I like to try to make a homemade gift for Christmas each year.  I have been in love (obsessed) with instagram and the pictures I take with it.  Since they are square they are the PERFECT size for coasters.  I know coasters are so random but if you think about it, everyone uses coasters and everyone needs them and they always fit!  You can print them square (I made a video on that here) and then just cut them to size.

I then used mod podge on top of the tiles (you can purchase a pack of 9 for around $4 at Home Depot) to adhere the picture and then mod podge on top of it.  I did different “themes” depending upon who I was giving them to.  Make sure to put felt on the bottom of them as you don’t want them scratching the surface they are supposed to be protecting.

For my grandparents I took pictures of all the cousins from my sisters wedding.  My grandmother raves and raves about these pictures and so I know she will love another way to display them.

I take pictures of my brother’s cat all the time (I go over to his place on my lunch break).  It was actually a big joke and he printed the pictures off and hung them around his office (until someone reported it…. another story) but anyway, I thought it would be hysterical for him to have pictures of Charles on coasters for his place.

For my sister?  Wedding pictures of course!  That was an easy choice and I had a million that I took at the wedding.

For my dad I made coasters of places around town that I took.  I think he will think they are pretty cool and will enjoy them more than if they had faces on them, haha.

Then wrap them up with nice ribbon and wrap up, put in a gift box, however you want to wrap it.
