Jackie O Headbands

2I decided to make some headbands the other day with bows on them.  I wouldn’t have called them Jackie O but that was what my mother insisted they were and so there we go :)  They were super easy and fast to make and once I got started I wanted to make a few more.  I think I want to continue to try out some other styles and such, but I am happy with them for now.

I used elastic thread in the back to give them some stretch instead of just having them tie on.

I got quite a few compliments on it as I wore it around.  I’m a fan.

Need a little sparkle?

Want something quick to make that can make someone smile?  I purchased matchboxes from Curly Girl Designs (love her stuff!) a while back and hadn’t done anything with them.  Then I saw these glitter pills on tumblr one day and figured I had to make them!  I also had empty pill capsules that I use for supplements sometimes and filled them with glitter.  I put them in the matchbox and check what an adorable gift this is….

Simple Guitar String Bracelet

IMG_3286

Need an easy to make bangle bracelet?  You can take used guitar strings and wrap them around each other to create a bracelet.

I used three strings and cut the things (honestly I have no idea if these have a name!) at the end of the bracelet to create beads.  I then used some silver wire to tie them in place.  Easy to make guitar string bracelet… done in less than 5 minutes!

Luggage Tag/Luggage Wrap Tutorial

Here is another easy project that has been on my to-do list for a while that I finally decided I need to sit down and do.  We all know at the airport that it seems like everyone has the exact same bag, or at least a bag that is really similar.  There are easy things you can make in less than 30 minutes to help it stand out, at least a little bit, from all the other suitcases.

I decided I was going to make two things and that would be 1. a personalized, fabric luggage tag and 2. the bag handle covers.  I wanted to make them in some ladybug fabric I had (of course) and knew they would stand out.  The ladybug fabric is actually a canvas material and that gives it the little bit of extra durability needed but I am sure you could use some interfacing and accomplish the same thing.  Now, I didn’t start out to make a tutorial and so I really am missing pictures and didn’t do the best job but hopefully you will get the idea.

The Handle Holders are incredibly easy to make.  You are just going to take a long piece of fabric like this and fold it in half.  Then go ahead and sew up both of the sides.

When you are done with that, turn it right side out and cut in half.  This will give you two handle covers to work with.  (Of course, if you only want to make one just sew a much smaller piece :)

Now sew the edges up by folding them in and sewing.  Now, you don’t have to do it that way I just like that better when 1. it is going to be covered and 2. the piece that I am sewing is pretty small and it is going to be a pain to leave a small opening to turn it out of… but you can do it however you want to :)

Now you are going to sew the velcro on.  Make sure it lines up how you want it and you sew one piece on one side and then one on the other where it would wrap over.  (I realize that is pretty simple but since I am completely honest on here I have done that before….)

All done.  Easy handle covers for your bag that will help it stand out from all of the other black suitcases.  Here is also the luggage tag that I made.  If I were to do that again I would of used thinner bias tape as it basically takes over the entire tag but the ladybug fabric is on the back and it will still help it stand out :)
