So after I made these lovely pancakes, I then proceeded to make play dough and then ramen noodles for the girls. Yes, I was cooking ALL morning!! But, when I was cooking the ramen I put the utensil I was using (plastic) about 10in from the burner. It was a four burner stove and so it was basically on the other side of the other burner. I went to pick it up to stir the ramen….
And that is when I realized in about .02 seconds that it was very hot I am so thankful the girls were upstairs and did not see me throw the utensil, run and place my hand under the cold water and start crying as the black plastic was now stuck onto my skin. The house cleaner actually witnessed all of this and bless her heart she was so worried about it.
I actually was very proud of myself as I managed to continue making them lunch and got them settled playing. I then realized that the doctor needed to be seen for the nice sized blisters that were now covering my fingers. Some prescription clean later and it is only day three and I am already wanting to pop the blisters. Don’t worry, I know I can’t.
Anyway… lesson learned here? Make sure the plastic utensil is placed far, far, FAR away from the gas burner. It doesn’t have to be touching to get very, very hot!!
I’m so sorry you got hurt, I hope it heals fast for you.
Oh man, that must have hurt — and probably still does. Words of warning are a good thing. Thanks.

oh my gosh, I am so sorry, I too, have more scars on my arms and hands from the stove and oven, then from any other possible hazards. I hope your hand heals fast.
