Bible Verse Advent Calendar

I absolutely love Advent Calendars to count down until Christmas. We all know that Christmas comes really fast and part of the fun is looking forward to celebrating the Birth of Jesus. I think a lot of Advent Calendars focus on more presents instead of the true message for the season so I wanted to make something quick and easy that would fulfill that.

I found the (yes, I finally found the link!) the printable cards from One Dog Woof.

I made it super simple just by taking a piece of burlap and sewing a Christmas fabric trim around the sides.  I then hot glued it around a stick I found out in the yard.  The mini-clothespins were glued on to hold the Scripture verses.  I printed the scripture verses and then glued them onto red and green scrapbooking paper.  Then the dates were written on the back.

Then as the month goes along I am turning them over each day.

And no craft project is complete without an animal lying on top of it.  Never fails.

Pinterest Christmas Finds

Even though I have not been able to craft as much I still check Pinterest and find ideas of things that I want to make.  Here are some craft ideas of things that I have found and hopefully I can get to them!

I love this pillow made from scraps from Two More Seconds.  I often find that I have extra fabric left over that is too small for anything else.  Making a scrap pillow would be such a good idea!

I have seen lots of Advent calendar ideas on Pinterest and I love them all!  Creative Green Living has a list of 20 pretty ones you can make.

There are so many ornament ideas like this one from Dimples & Tangles.

And then all the beautiful mantles.  Yes, I realize that Thanksgiving has not occurred yet but I just absolutely love decorating for Christmas.

Instagram Christmas Ornaments

So I wanted to do something with all the instagram pictures I take and decided to make them into ornaments.

They then looked adorable on the presents and on some of them I sewed the names (not the prettiest I will admit but it did the job :)

Merry, Merry, Christmas!!

No Handmade Tuesdays today! I hope you are spending time with your family and friends and especially remembering the true reason for the season. It doesn’t matter to me when Jesus was actually born, what matters is that we set aside a say to celebrate the birth of our Savior. I am completely unworthy of all that He has done for me but through grace I am given everlasting life.  He came to save all of us and let us remember why He was born.  I mess up, I am not perfect but through Jesus I am made whole and given everlasting life.  I wish you all a very Merry Christmas with your family and friends.

Luke 2:1-21

“2 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while[a]Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

21 On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived.”
