2014 Goals

So I had mentioned that I was doing one word 365 but I still wanted to write down some goals that I wanted to accomplish in 2014.  Now, I don’t think I have failed for the year if I don’t accomplish these, nothing like that at all.  But I still think it is important to write down what you want to be working towards.  Now, you are supposed to make them measurable and I didn’t do that (bad me) but they are still things I want to work on.

  • Learn to play the piano.
  • Craft at least once a week
  • Post more consistantly
  • Spend time in the Word daily
  • Start Crossfit/Running again.  I know this is such a common one but I need to get those holiday pounds off!  Plus I wouldn’t mind being more toned
  • Read more books

In addition I have lots of to-dos I want to work on that aren’t something I need to focus on all year such as organize and declutter.  Do more with less.  I have lots of excess that I do not need.  It is going to be a consistent goal to work on getting rid of things that I don’t need.  All they do is weigh me down!  What are you working towards?

New Year’s Goals

Now I really am not one for making New Years Resolutions.  I honestly feel that you should just be working to make a better you throughout the year and that shouldn’t be reserved for one time of year.  But I do feel like writing down your goals is always a good idea so you have a list of things to work with (and lets be honest, I love writing lists).  So here is my goal list for 2013.

  • Dress up more.  Yes, I love my jeans, yoga pants, and flats but I think I could make an effort to dress up some more than I currently do.  May not help that my new job is a totally casual environment but I am going to try.
  • Work out & Firm up.  I don’t need to loose any weight but I could definitely tone myself up some more.  I also want to become stronger.
  • Travel somewhere on an airplane.  I add on an airplane because that means I actually have to go a little further.  I would love it to be a foreign country.
  • Stop drinking so much diet coke.  Now I LOVE my diet coke but I know I drink too much of it.  So I aim to replace some of my diet coke drinking with tea.
  • Become more content.  Not a measurable goal per say but still a good one.
  • Write down my blessings in a book or in a jar (the one going around Pinterest where you write them down and then read them on Dec. 31st, love that idea!)
  • Make new friends and make more time for my current ones.
  • Craft projects.  Definitely need to spend more time crafting.  I did really well towards the end of the year but I want to be better the whole year!
  • Pay more towards my student loan than the minimum payment each month that I can.
  • Save money each month.
  • Don’t focus on my failures but on my progress.

2012 Goals

I feel like by calling them goals instead of resolutions they are more attainable.  It is almost as if we call something a resolution we are adding another hurdle while calling them goals takes one away.  Who knows, maybe that is just my thinking…

Anyway, my 2012 goals are…

  • Run 365 miles.  By giving this goal an actual value I am ensuring more of a success than if I had just said, run more.

  • Pay off my credit card and make a dent in my student loan payments.

  • Blog more.  Now, I know I am not giving this one a numerical value like I did with running but I feel like since starting the job I have not been blogging as much and I want to change that.  I need to find a system and stick with it.

  • Find a good balance.  As I mentioned above, going from lots of part time jobs to a full time job plays with how you handle your life and how you find a balance for it.  I am still working on this one.

  • Do at least one creative thing each week.  It is amazing how when I find the time to make things I can relax more.

  • Live with more intention, or purpose.  I don’t like to just drift through things, day by day.  How boring is that?

  • Play outside

  • Spend less, Give more

  • Spend time with God each and every day.  Real meaningful time, not just quickly reading a devotional or quick prayer time.

  • Read one book a month.  Reading is so important and how often I toss it aside because something else calls my attention.

  • Find adventure.

Now I realize some of these are not numerical at all and cannot really be tracked but by writing them down I am stating that they are things I want to work on.  Some of them are not things that can even be counted or categorized and that is okay with me.
